Shoveler

Shoveler at Catcliffe Flash

Shoveler is mostly seen on passage or as a winter visitor in small numbers, although it does breed occasionally. Most records come from lowland waters [as might be expected] with individual parties rarely higher than the low to mid teens. This series of photograph shows some of the birds in a party of 14, taken by Ashley Fisher at Catcliffe Flash on 20th January 2001, when the flash was c. 98% frozen. Last updated 21st January 2001.
